American Express opened its a new lounge in Sydney, Australia yesterday. This is the fifth lounge opened that uses the new modern design language (the others are all located in the US – Las Vegas, Nevada, San Francisco, California, New York LaGuardia, New York and Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas).
Located beside Gate 24 of the Sydney International Airport (IATA Airport Code – SYD) Terminal 1 , the lounge has room for 60 passengers and will be run by Plaza Premium Lounge Management Limited. The operating hours are from 0600 to 2300 daily.
The lounge has a full bar and a buffet serving hot and cold foods. Similar to other locations, the menu will feature more local fares.

A Centurion Card, Platinum Card, Business Centurion Card and Business Platinum Card provides unlimited access to the lounge provided it’s issued by the Australia arm, or is an internationally-issued Centurion or Platinum card.
A longer list of American Express cards gives the cardholder two free lounge entries per calendar year for account, after which there’s a per-entry fee of $55 for adults and $35 for children from 2-17.

The two-per-year entry allocation includes the cardholder, a supplementary cardholder, children between 2-17 or a guest.
The credit company starting to branch out and cater cardholders in other countries with a lounge concept that has been proven very popular. Expect similar lounges to be rolled out in other countries where there are a higher concentration of Centurion and Platinum members (e.g. UK – London, France – Paris, China – Hong Kong)
The next US based lounge will be located in Miami International Airport scheduled to be opened in early 2015.
