Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic teamed up to open their first pop-up pub in London, United Kingdom between August 10 to 19, 2018.

Pop-Up Introduction

Delta Air Lines purchased 49% ownership of Virgin Atlantic from Singapore Airlines for US$360 million back in December 2012. They received anti trust immunity from the United States (US)’s Department of Transportation and United Kingdom (UK)’s Civil Aviation Authority a year afterwards and created a joint venture (JV).

At the start of their partnership, the airlines operated 9 roundtrips between New York area airports (including Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)) to London area airports (including London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and London Gatwick Airport (LGW)) and 31 roundtrips between the US to the UK. Today, the combined partnership serves 230 US destinations, up to 12 daily round trips between New York to London (up ~33% from 2012) and up to 37 daily round trips between the US to the UK (up ~20% from 2012).

The airlines came up with a unique twist by opening up a pop-up pub concept called The Joint Venture Pub to celebrate serving 230 US destinations together. The Old Crown Public House located at 33 Oxford Street in Central London is transformed for ten days as the new destination for frequent travellers, tourists and locals who are into travel. Hours of operation are Sunday – Wednesday (1200-0100) / 12pm till 1am and Thursday – Saturday (1200-0300) / 12pm till 3am.

The pop-up pub features 230 American craft beers from the destinations  they serve together including the ATL.

ATL – 420 Extra Pale Ale 5.7% ABV | Atlanta, GA
Fact: ATL is also the the busiest airport in the world by passenger count and is the only one serving over 100 million travellers in 2016 and 2017.

Additionally, the pub scheduled unique events for each of the ten days with pub quiz nights offering prizes including one of 16 roundtrip economy class tickets from London Heathrow Airport or Manchester Airport to the US served by Virgin Atlantic and or one of 16 gift vouchers from Virgin Holidays (Refer to the terms and conditions here).
