Throwback Thursday Pictures of the Week – SAS DC-7

November 15, 2014 marks 78 years since Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) (IATA Airline Code – SK) sets a new distance record for commercial airlines by flying 6,005 miles nonstop from Los Angeles to Stockholm , Sweden, following the Great Arctic Circle route.

To celebrate this occasion, we will feature some classic SAS DC-7s in action for this week’s edition of Throwback Thursday pictures.

SAS operated a fleet of 18 DC-7C (16 passengers and 2 freighters) from 1956 to 1968. The passenger version had between 60 to 92 seats in a 2-class configuration.
